Vol. 315 No. 16

Written Answers. - Sanction of Developments near Monuments.

88.

andMr. Donnellan asked the Minister for Finance the location of each of the proposed developments close to potential national monuments on which he sought advice from the National Monuments Advisory Council before sanction and the advice tendered in each case.

I am advised by the Commissioners of Public Works that since the beginning of 1978 they sought advice on proposed developments from the National Monuments Advisory Council in the following cases:—

1. Black Friary, Trim, County Meath. The National Monuments Advisory Council advised against the proposed development.

2. Taghmon, County Wexford. When the site was inspected on behalf of the National Monuments Advisory Council it was found that it had been levelled and that it had no remaining archaeological interest.
