Vol. 315 No. 16

Written Answers. - Motor Vehicle Headlights.

131.

asked the Minister for the Environment details of the regulations, if any, governing the number and types of headlights on motor vehicles.

Details of the number and types of headlamps required on mechanically-propelled vehicles are contained in the Road Traffic (Lighting of Vehicles) Regulations, 1963 (S.I. No. 189 of 1963).

In general, two headlamps are required, giving white or yellow light to a specified range of illumination, mounted within a prescribed range of measurements, and capable of being dipped.
