Vol. 316 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Postal Service.

489.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the unsatisfactory postal service in the Dún Laoghaire Constituency since the service has been resumed and when it is expected that an efficient service will be provided.

I am aware that the postal service had been unsatisfactory recently. Special measures have been taken since the end of the postal strike to bring the service back to normal as quickly as possible. Considerable progress in this direction has been made and checks indicate that at present a large part of the mail is being delivered on the day after posting and most mail within two days. The Department are pressing ahead with efforts to improve this further and to get back to full traditional standards.
