Vol. 316 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fisheries Discussions.

8.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the nature of the discussions on matters appertaining to fisheries which he had with EEC representatives since the Summer recess and the outcome of such discussions.

Since the Summer recess I had discussions on fishery matters with Commission Vice-President Gundelach and with my British counterpart, Mr. Walker, in connection with the forthcoming fisheries council. These discussions were informal and no definite conclusions emerged.

Why did the policy not arrive? The British are still holding up the fishery policy of the EEC. Is the Minister afraid to antagonise them now by saying yes or no?

The Deputy is talking utter nonsense.

I know what I have been talking about for the last two years.
