Vol. 316 No. 12

Written Answers. - Driving Licence Application.

454.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons a person (details supplied) in Dublin whose application for a provisional licence was received by the Motor Taxation Office, Dublin on 10 October 1979 with the £2 fee, has been requested to pay £4 under the new regulations of 11 October 1979 and if the application will be accepted if it is resubmitted with £2.

The statutory position is that a provisional licence granted after 11 October 1979 must be for a period of 12 months, the licence fee being £4. Accordingly, a provisional licence could not be issued since that date on the former basis of a six-month period and at a fee of £2.
