asked the Minister for Education if the 10 per cent of calls to Teacher Training College allowed to Gaeltacht students are being availed of and the number who have received calls from each Gaeltacht for 1979.

The number of candidates from the Gaeltacht who fulfilled the minimum academic requirements at the open competitive examination for admission to the colleges of education in 1979 was 61 and 40 of these were offered places in the colleges. The number of students from each Gaeltacht area offered such places was as follows: Donegal, 11; Cork, 9; Kerry, 8; Mayo, 6; Galway, 5; Meath, 1. Of the 59 candidates called for interview, 13 did not present themselves and 2 failed the interview.
