Vol. 317 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Stream Pollution.

11.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the pollution of a stream which flows through the lands of a farmer (details supplied) in County Tipperary and eventually into the river Suir, and if he will outline his plans to rectify the problem.

Under the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977, it is a matter for local authorities to investigate instances of pollution and to take any necessary remedial action. I understand that problems arose in the case in question from the disposal of agricultural liquid waste but that the matter has now been rectified.
