Vol. 317 No. 2

Written Answers. - Serving of Drink in Restaurants.

369.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will amend the licensing laws to allow drink to be served in restaurants, if he has received representation from tourist bodies in support of such a change, and if such representations have merit.

Many proposals for the amendment of the Intoxicating Liquor Laws have been received by me in recent years.

One of these proposals was that the law should be changed to allow intoxicating liquor to be served in restaurants. This proposal has been supported by Bord Fáilte.

The proposals, some of which conflict to a greater or lesser extent with others, are under consideration but I am not in a position to say at this stage what amendments, if any, will be proposed by me.
