Vol. 317 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Driving Test Costs.

3.

asked the Minister for the Environment the average cost of a driving test to the Department and the approximate cost of a test per person.

The average cost of a driving test is currently estimated at £9.50 on the basis of approximately 112,000 applications per year. The test fee payable by an applicant is £10 where the application relates to vehicles of Class D or E—goods vehicles and large passenger vehicles, respectively—and £6 in any other case. The £6 fee, of course, applies to more than 90 per cent of applications.
