Vol. 317 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Provisions.

330.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if applications for decision under section 42 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952, which are assessed with regard to combined income in the household are equally applicable to both male and female.

The situation where the combined income of the household can be taken into account as envisaged by the question arises in relation to the schemes of non-contributory old age pension, unemployment assistance and supplementary welfare allowance. In all cases this feature is applicable equally to male and female applicants.
