Vol. 317 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Redundant Workers.

9.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will make a statement on the future employment prospects of those made redundant at Munster Chipboard Limited, Waterford.

Some, but not all, of the workers who had been in the employment of this firm registered for employment with the Waterford office of the National Manpower Service. The office had been making every effort to secure alternative work for them, and so far almost one-half of those who registered have been re-employed. Those who have not already done so and who are still unemployed are strongly advised to register with the service now. A number of enterprises in the area are planning to take on more workers over the coming months.
