asked the Minister for Finance if £1½ million is due to Kildare County Council from the Local Loans Fund to meet commitments regarding the granting of loans for the building of private houses, if so, when the money became due and when it will be paid.

A loan of one million pounds from the Local Loans Fund to Kildare County Council for the payment of advances under Section 39 of the Housing Act, 1966 was sanctioned on 26 October 1979. A payment of £800,000 on foot of this loan was paid to Kildare County Council on 30 November 1979 and a further payment will be made within the next few days.
A further loan of two million pounds for the same purpose was sanctioned on 7 December 1979 and payments on foot of the loan will be made on receipt of an application from Kildare County Council.
