Vol. 317 No. 9

Written Answers. - Early Voluntary Retirement.

216.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if any policy consideration has been given to the prospect of early voluntary retirement at 60 years of age under the Social Insurance Scheme.

The general question of allowing retirement pension to be payable in advance of the normal pensionable age was among the matters raised for consideration in the Green Paper entitled A National Income-Related Pension Scheme. In the light of the submissions received in response to the Green Paper and following discussion with the major interests involved, proposals for further action in relation to pensions are in course of preparation in my Department.
