Vol. 317 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin School Meal Facility.

221.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has received a request from the authorities of St. Joseph's School for the Deaf, Navan Road, Dublin 7 for assistance towards the cost of providing a hot mid-day meal for children attending the school and if he will arrange for such a facility.

The question of providing financial assistance towards the cost of hot meals is in the first instance a matter for the local authority. I understand that an application in this regard by St. Joseph's School for the Deaf has been made to Dublin Corporation who will be approaching my Department for the necessary sanction at an early date.

I will give favourable consideration to the proposal when it is received.
