Vol. 317 No. 9

Written Answers. - Irish Hauliers' Difficulties.

238.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties being experienced by Irish hauliers in other EEC countries in the matter of fuel supplies and hi-jackings, if he will raise these problems at the Council of Transport Ministers to ensure that Irish lorries will not be restricted by the amount of diesel carried in their fuel tanks, and ensure greater safety and security for Irish lorry drivers and the goods being hauled by them on the continent.

I have received no reports of such difficulties. If the Deputy gives me information regarding particular incidents I will have the matter examined and I will consider what appropriate action may be taken.
