Vol. 317 No. 9

Written Answers. - Headage Payments Schemes.

310.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange that all cattle and sheep subsidy payments be made to farmers as a matter of urgency in view of the depressed cattle and sheep prices and the resulting plight to the small farmers.

This year for the first time since the inception of the headage payments schemes over 70 per cent of the participants will receive their grants before the end of December. It is expected that the remaining applicants whose applications are found to be in order will be paid early in the New Year.
