I am informed by the Garda authorities that the numbers of crimes committed by persons on bail during each of the years 1974 to 1978 inclusive, and during the first nine months of this year were as follows: 1974, 3,310; 1975, 4,317; 1976, 4,136; 1977, 5,068; 1978, 4,877; 1979 (up to and including 30 September), 6,821.
Figures in respect of the year 1973 are not available.
