asked the Minister for Labour the number of dismissals adjudged unfair by the Rights Commissioners in 1977, 1978 and to the latest date in 1979.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 429 and 430 together.

The information requested by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. I am arranging to have the information compiled, in so far as it is available. I will forward it to the Deputy as soon as possible.

431.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of cases where Rights Commissioners allowed either party legal representation in unfair dismissal cases.

The Unfair Dismissals Act, 1977, does not confer powers on Rights Commissioners in relation to allowing, or disallowing, legal representation of parties in cases coming before the commissioners under the Act. In the circumstances information is not available as to the number of such cases—where parties were legally represented.
