Vol. 317 No. 9

Written Answers. - Community Schools.

38.

asked the Minister for Education the VECs to which he has submitted the proposed deeds of trust for community schools and the VECs which have approved the signing of such deeds.

The IVEA (Irish Vocational Education Association) consulted all Vocational Education Committees on the draft model deed of trust and subsequently conveyed to me the agreement of the association to the draft.

In so far as the signing of the deeds by each relevant vocational education committee in respect of individual schools is concerned, I have no reason to anticipate that any committee which has a community school within its area will not sign the deeds at the appropriate time.

39.

asked the Minister for Education when the first deed of trust for a community school will be signed; the school involved, the date and the place arranged for the signing ceremony.

The first deed of trust for a community school was signed on 2 August 1979. The school involved was Birr Community School.

Question No. 40 postponed.
