Notes:
1. The "real" amounts for 1978 and 1979 are based on a comparison with the current expenditure in 1977. The deflator used to determine the "real" expenditure is based on the wholesale price index for the building and construction industry produced by the Central Statistics Office in their Capital Goods Price Index Series.
2. The figures give for 1979 represent road grant allocations from central funds. Figures for local authority expenditure will not be available for some time.
3. Road grant allocations for 1980 have not yet been determined.
4. The above figures do not include expenditure on overheads and public lighting; separate figures for these expenses, related to specific road classification, are not available.
