asked the Minister for Health the estimated costs in respect of the following: (i) an increase of 25 per cent in April 1980, and 10 per cent in October 1980 in the current disabled persons maintenance allowance, (ii) the provision of a dependence allowance at current rates to disabled persons maintenance allowance recipients, (iii) the extension of the mobility allowance to those unable to walk without the use of artificial limbs or other suitable aids, (iv) an increase of 50 per cent in the current mobility allowance and the extension of this allowance to persons in homes and institutions, (v) the granting to all disabled persons in institutions and homes of an allowance increased to £10.00 per week and (vi) the estimated total cost involved in each case.

In so far as it is possible to estimate these costs, they are as follows: (i) £3.6 million and £0.6 million, respectively, in 1980 and £4.8 million and £2.4 million in a full year; (ii) £1 million in a full year; (iii) A statistical basis for an estimate is not available; (iv) £0.3 million in a full year; (v) £0.7 million in a full year; (vi) £9.2 million in a full year, not including the cost of the extension mentioned in (iii).
