Vol. 318 No. 1

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

575.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for an applicant (details supplied) in County Dublin.

Service was provided on 12 December 1979.

576.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for an applicant (details supplied) in County Dublin, who applied three years ago.

It will not, I regret, be possible to provide service until major underground cabling works, on which provision of service is dependent, are carried out towards the end of this year.

577.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for an applicant in Dublin (details supplied) who is a county surgeon and is on the waiting list for over two years, and if he will arrange for the immediate installation of service in this case.

Provision of service is dependent on the completion of an underground cabling scheme which, because of the volume of other urgent engineering work awaiting attention in the Dublin area, is unlikely to be carried out until late this year. Service will be provided as soon as the cabling work is completed.

578.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange for the erection of a telephone kiosk at Bishop Lucey Place, Bantry, County Cork in view of the present position whereby an estate of seventy-six houses and a further twelve houses under construction are without telephone service.

There is a telephone kiosk approximately 470 metres from this housing estate and provision of an additional kiosk in the area would not be warranted.
