With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report a statement giving the particulars requested. The majority of the appointments are as a result of the transfer of staff from the former Department of Economic Planning and Development and also staff transfers consequent on the assumption by my Department of responsibility for the National Board for Science and Technology and the National Economic and Social Council.

2. All of the appointments included in the foregoing statement were made from within the public service with the following exceptions:—
(a) Personal Secretary to the Taoiseach (N. Turner)—appointed in the public interest under the Civil Service Commissioners Act, 1956, and
(b) Press Officer in the Government Information Services (N. Donnelly)—appointed on a contract basis.
