asked the Minister for Finance the estimated percentage of wage increases for the calendar year 1979 and the average percentage as estimated for the narrow band EMS members in 1979.

The following table reproduces the latest published EEC Commission estimates, prepared in October last, of the increase in per capita employee compensation in 1979 in the narrow band EMS members, Ireland included, as given in the "Annual Economic Review, 1979-80", table 4.3.

Since October the figure for Ireland has been revised to 17½ per cent. It is understood that corrections to the figures for the other member states would also now be appropriate.
