Vol. 318 No. 1

Written Answers. - Bantry Sewerage Scheme.

492.

asked the Minister for Finance if a grant from EEC Funds has been sanctioned for the sewerage scheme at Bantry, County Cork, if so, the amount thereof and if this has been paid to Cork County Council.

The sewerage scheme at Bantry is one of a group of projects approved for aid from the European Regional Development Fund on 11 December 1978. Under Article 7 of the fund regulation, projects costing less than 10 million European Units of Account (about £6.7 million) are submitted on a grouped basis for the country as a whole, and the Commission determines a single aggregate amount of aid for the group of projects. It is therefore not possible to specify the fund contribution to any individual project in this category. The fund contribution is paid to the Exchequer in line with national expenditure on the group of projects.
