Vol. 318 No. 9

Written Answers. - Subsidised Drug Scheme.

345.

asked the Minister for Health the saving to the Exchequer of the changes in the subsidised drug scheme recently announced by him, and the estimated number of people affected.

The saving to the Exchequer in the current year is estimated at £250,000. It is not possible to indicate how many people would be affected but the change in the eligibility criteria is expected to eliminate in the present year about 13,000 claims for refunds on expenditure between £5 and £8—which are made on a monthly basis.
