Vol. 318 No. 9

Written Answers. - Agricultural Exports Co-ordinating Group.

44.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the date of formation and the membership of the agricultural exports co-ordinating group, the number of meetings it has held, the finance made available to it, the recommendations made by it and the action taken on them, and if its membership includes farmers.

The group was set up in November 1978. It is comprised of representatives of my Department, under whose chairmanship it operates, and the chief executives of Bord Bainne, Córas Beostoic agus Feola, Pigs and Bacon Commission, Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teo, Irish Potato Marketing Ltd., An Chomhairle Olla and Córas Tráchtála. The group has had six meetings. Its primary function is to act as a standing co-ordinating body on matters of common interest to the various bodies represented on it. The group has recently submitted to me a report on its activities including a recommendation for the provision of additional financial resources for agricultural export promotion. I am having this matter examined.
