Vol. 318 No. 9

Written Answers. - Policing Arrangements Examination.

294.

asked the Minister for Justice when the examination of the policing arrangements in the Dublin metropolitan area will be completed and if he will establish a Garda station in Leixlip, County Kildare in view of the expansion of this town.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 371 on 26 February 1980 in which I referred to the issues that arise in any proposals to provide new Garda stations in developing areas on the perimeter of Dublin city. I would refer in particular to the third paragraph of my reply in which I mentioned the possibility that pilot schemes might have to be introduced for test purposes and that accordingly it would be likely to be some time before decisions in relation to particular areas would be taken.
