Vol. 318 No. 9

Written Answers. - Meath Unemployment Relief Schemes.

299.

asked the Minister for Finance if any of the schemes for the relief of unemployment in County Meath, listed in his reply to parliamentary question 177 of 27 February 1979, have not commenced and if so, the location of each such scheme, its purpose, and the reasons for the delay.

Of the 22 schemes previously listed three have not yet started. The following is the information requested in respect of these:

Location

Purpose

Cause of delay

Navan

Erection of new Government Offices

Protracted consultation with the local authority became necessary during the planning of the project and a number of site problems had to be resolved.

Dunshaughlin

Erection of new Telephone Exchange

A change in the brief made it necessary to prepare revised plans.

Donore

Improvements to National School

Due to the pressure of other work it did not prove possible to complete the planning of this project as early as had been expected.
