I presume that the question relates to the disposal of effluent from farm buildings and, in particular, of slurry from buildings housing large numbers of pigs. As I have already indicated in reply to Question No. 367 on 27 February, 1980, the problem is largely an agricultural one and is under active consideration by a number of bodies. I hope that the present consideration will result in practical measures to overcome the problems being experienced but if proposals for legislation relevant to my functions are recommended, I will be prepared to consider the matter.
