Vol. 318 No. 9

Written Answers. - Marts Survey.

333.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if any survey of marts has been carried out to determine whether they include facilities for the washing of lorries, and if so, the action taken, in the interests of disease eradication, in cases where no such facilities exist.

Licensed livestock marts are inspected regularly by officers of my Department to determine, inter alia, whether there are adequate facilities for the washing of lorries. In any case where the facilities available are inadequate the deficiencies are brought to the notice of the proprietor. In the event of failure to make the necessary improvements legal proceedings can be instituted.
