Vol. 318 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Navan County Infirmary.

22.

asked the Minister for Health why no effort has been made to make the second floor of the County Infirmary, Navan, County Meath, available for old patients who are unable to get accommodation elsewhere and if he will have this floor inspected by a fire officer in view of the larger amount of money spent on renovation.

This is a matter for the North Eastern Health Board, who are responsible for the provision of services in the County Infirmary, Navan. Use of the second floor, the top storey, was discontinued some years ago on the advice of the local fire officer. In 1973-74 about £25,000 was spent mainly on works to meet the fire officer's requirements but did not include work on the second floor as it was regarded as unsuitable for renovation. That is still the position so far as the health board are concerned.
