Vol. 319 No. 6

Written Answers. - East Waterford Regional Water Scheme.

64.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in granting permission to Waterford County Council to seek tenders for the East Waterford regional water supply, in view of the serious shortage of water in the region, especially in Waterford city.

Having regard to the amount of capital available for water and sewerage schemes, the volume of such works cirrently in progress and the number of schemes approved and reaching construction stage at the present time, I cannot at present say when I will be in a position to convey a decision to the local authority on this scheme, contract documents for which are under consideration in my Department.
