asked the Minister for Justice the percentage of people released from prison who were later arrested and convicted for another crime in the last three years.

Approximately 10,500 offenders were released from custody over the past three years.

The information sought is not readily available and its compilation would involve an amount of staff time which would not be justified.

It is hoped that a study on the intended computerisation of data in relation to prisons and offenders which would make it relatively easy to obtain information of this kind, will commence in the near future.
