VAT records and statistics are not kept in such a manner as would enable the yield from garages to be distinguished from other activities.
Published VAT data by trade classification for earlier years has shown garages as a separate item. (Similar data has not yet been published for 1978 and 1979). However, these classifications are necessarily broad, each item encompassing a range of analogous goods and services, and specific data on garages as such is not available.
