Vol. 320 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Stolen Cars.

229.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the practice in particular areas of Dublin where stolen cars are driven by inexperienced drivers with consequent danger to pedestrians and other members of the public.

I have seen recent newspaper reports about incidents involving stolen cars in Dublin. Action in these matters is a function of the Garda Commissioner.

230.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will have consultations with Dublin Corporation to examine the measures which can be taken to reduce the dangers posed by the reckless use of stolen cars in particular areas of the city.

I am not aware what functions Dublin Corporation could exercise in this regard. If the Deputy has any practical proposals in mind, it is open to him to communicate them to Dublin Corporation, who I am sure will fully consider them.
