Notes:

(a) The figures for Dublin County Council include a special pay increase of £7.60 per week payable in two phases, at all points of the relevant incremental scale, and granted prior to the commencement of the current Agreement on Pay Policy.

(b) The rate for Cork County Council includes the second phase of the Agreement on pay Policy as these employees are "early starters" under the Wage Agreements and qualified for payment of the second phase increase on 1 January 1980.

(c) Negotiations on payment of the productivity-based increase of £1.50 per week with effect from 1 October 1978 have not been concluded in this local authority.

236.

asked the Minister for the Environment the average wages of county council road workers in the 26 county councils outside Dublin, in February 1980, prior to the implementation of the second phase of the National Understanding.

The average wages of county council road workers in the 26 county councils other than Dublin prior to the implementation of the second phase of the national understanding was £59.86 a week. The operative date for the second phase of the national understanding for road workers was 1 March 1980 in all county councils other than Cork where the operative date was 1 January 1980.
