Vol. 320 No. 1

Written Answers. - Employment of Handicapped Persons.

243.

asked the Minister for Labour if the target of 3 per cent for the employment of handicapped persons in the Civil Service has been reached.

The Government decision about the employment of disabled persons in the public service set the end of 1982 for the achievement of the 3 per cent quota.

Following a report by the National Rehabilitation Board on the best prospects of matching suitable job opportunities in the public service with likely candidates, I have invited the Civil Service Commission to hold a special competition as soon as possible for the recruitment of disabled persons to the Civil Service. The competition will shortly be announced.
