Vol. 320 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Financing.

246.

asked the Minister for Education if any indication has been given to the board of management of post-primary schools of the manner in which the financial contributions required by his Department should be collected, when this communication issued and the nature of the instructions.

The only communication issued by my Department in connection with local financial contributions towards current expenditure on schools relates to primary schools. This communication was contained in the document Boards of Management of National Schools: Constitution of Boards and Rules of Procedure and stated that “the sum required to meet the local contribution shall be provided by the parish community or other appropriate analagous community or body from general funds at the disposal of such community or body and there shall be no levy on parents of children attending the school”.
