In 1977 a sum of £1,031,954 was spent in respect of youth and sporting activities. In 1978 the amount was £1,801,361 and in 1979 it was £3,315,153.
Projected expenditure on youth and sporting activities in 1980 is £3,825,000. In addition a sum in excess of £5 million has been allocated to my Department by the Tripartite Committee on Employment to be spent on a national programme for the provision of youth and sporting facilities.
