Vol. 320 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sick Benefit.

263.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in the payment of sick benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry and when payment will issue.

Medical evidence of incapacity for work has been received from the person concerned from 11 February 1980 and payment of disability and pay-related benefit has been made from 14 February, the fourth day of incapacity, to 15 April 1980. The delay in the initial payment on 1 April 1980 was due to the fact that the claimant did not insert his insurance number on his medical certificates and they had to be returned to him.

Subsequently he submitted five medical certificates together on 22 April 1980 and the payment for the period covered by these certificates issued on the same day. The period covered by this payment was from 5 March to 15 April 1980.

Payment has been made at the rate appropriate to a single man, as the claim form for dependants, if any, which issued to him on 27 March 1980 has not been received.
