Vol. 320 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Applications.

231.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will reconsider an application for a home improvement grant for a person (details supplied) In Dublin which was late due to postal delays.

The announcement about the termination of the house improvement grants scheme, made by me on 21 January last, stated clearly that completed application forms for the grants would be accepted by my Department up to and including 1 February 1980, thus giving intending applicants a period of practically two weeks within which to ensure that their forms reached my Department in time.

While I have under consideration representations made to me that some applications were marginally late in arriving, solely because of postal delays, and am considering what action might appropriately be taken in cases in which this fact can be established, I must point out that in the case referred to by the Deputy the form was not received in the Department until 7 February last and, accordingly, was rejected.

232.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a reconstruction grant will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The house will be inspected shortly and the grant will be paid if the work has been completed satisfactorily.

233.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a reconstruction grant will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The approved work in this case had not been completed when the house was inspected last month. When my Department have been notified that the work has been completed, further inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant, if in order.
