Vol. 321 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Law Reform Commission Recommendation.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if and when he proposes to introduce legislation to provide a more flexible and effective system of remedies for the citizen against unfair or excessive action against him by State authorities, as recommended by the Law Reform Commission recently; and, in the event that the Law Reform Commission have not yet given a final view on the matter, when he intends to seek or expects to receive such a final view.

The commission's working paper on the judicial review of administrative action was published as recently as last December.

I am not in a position to say when their final report may be expected.

May we take it that the Taoiseach has not in mind to take any steps until the final report comes to hand, even though that may take a long time?

Almost certainly not.
