asked the Taoiseach the amount by which the consumer price index figure has increased from mid-May 1977 to mid-May 1980.

The Consumer Price Index increased by 33.6 per cent between mid-May 1977 and mid-February 1980 which is the latest period for which the index is available. The mid-May 1980 index will be available later this month.

Was I right in hearing the Minister of State say that the rate of inflation has been approximately one-third or 33½ per cent since the present Government assumed office?

When precisely will the mid-May figure be available?

It will be available very shortly, I think, later this month. Yes, the mid-May 1980 figure will be available later this month.
