Vol. 321 No. 10

Written Answers. - Green Currency Rates.

30.

asked the Minister for Agriculture why the automatic adjustment of green currency rates on a daily basis in line with general currency movements would be administratively impracticable as stated in his reply to parliamentary question No. 336 on 11 March 1980.

Daily adjustment of green currency rates would involve a large number of calculations, the results of which would have to be notified at once to a large number of traders, customs officers and others concerned. It has also to be borne in mind that daily changes in intervention support prices etc. would introduce considerable uncertainty for traders and producers and would certainly not be in the best interests of producers.
