Vol. 321 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Údarás na Gaeltachta Industrial Relations.

14.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltachta if she is aware that the Board of Údarás na Gaeltachta appear to have adopted a policy of not implementing the conciliation procedures of the Industrial Relations Act, 1969, under which disputes may be investigated by a rights commissioner; if she will make a statement in relation to the non-observance of the established industrial relations procedures by public bodies appointed under her Department and if she will obtain a statement of policy from the chairman of the board in relation to the observance of the established industrial relations procedures.

15.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht if she is aware that Údarás na Gaeltachta appear to have adopted a general policy of not implementing the conciliation procedures under the Industrial Relations Act, 1969, which were established for the purpose of facilitating the investigation of disputes by a rights commissioner; that this Authority has recently refused to attend a hearing proposed by a rights commissioner, and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Le cead an Cheann Comhairle tógfaidh mé Ceist a 14 agus Ceist a 15 le chéile.

Táim sásta go mbíonn na comhlachtaí poiblí faoi mo scáth toilteanach na gnáthnósanna imeachta a bhaineann le cúrsaí caidrimh thionscail a chomhlíonadh ar bhealach réasúnach.

Má thagann comhlacht ar an tuairim mheáite nach cuí go n-imscrúdódh coimisinéir um chearta aighneas áirithe, tig leo é sin a chur in iúl faoi alt 13 den Acht Caidrimh Thionscail, 1969. Tharla a leithéid le déanaí i gcás amháin a raibh baint ag Údarás na Gaeltachta leis ach bhí an tÚdarás sásta go gcuirfí an cás faoi bhráid na Cúirte Oibreachais agus tuigim go bhfuil sé sin déanta.

Is the Minister aware that in relation to one company, Irish Processing Chemicals Teo, in Carraroe, which employs 50 people, the company have not paid statutory redundancy money and have not issued the statutory certificates? They are a company in which Údarás na Gaeltachta have a 30 per cent holding. They have refused to go to the rights commissioner. Would the Minister have the matter investigated. Twenty-two of the employees are from her constituency.

Tá mé ag déanamh é sin faoi láthair.
