Vol. 322 No. 1

Written Answers. - Pay Slips.

313.

asked the Minister for Defence if all Army and Naval personnel are issued with pay slips as are other public servants, if not why, and if so, if such pay slips give a detailed breakdown of basic pay, and the various allowances, such as border and security allowances, or naval pay etc. together with the stoppages such as ration money etc.

Army and Naval officers are paid monthly by cheque and as part of that arrangement they are supplied with payslips which give details of basic pay, additional pay, allowances and deductions.

Non-commissioned officers and privates are paid weekly in cash and information on the breakdown of pay is available on request from the paying officer. Arrangements for the provision of payslips which will give details of the composition of pay are at present well advanced and it is expected that the payslips will be available for issue later this year.
