Vol. 322 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin Elderly Living Alone.

391.

asked the Minister for Health if he will approve an arrangement whereby a number of individuals from both the Eastern Health Board, the respective local authorities and any other appropriate agencies involved, would be willing to coalesce in one group with a view to tackling the problem of elderly people living alone in Dublin city; and if he will launch a major campaign to help reduce the hardship being suffered by such people.

I understand that the present arrangements for attention to the needs of the elderly operated by the Eastern Health Board, in co-operation with the local authorities and other appropriate agencies, are operating satisfactorily. These arrangements are kept under constant review.
