Vol. 322 No. 9

Written Answers. - South Tipperary Hospital.

477.

andMr. Griffin asked the Minister for Health if he intends to proceed with the provision of a sector hospital in South Tipperary; if so, the proposed location; the proposed commencement date; and if he will outline all other relevant details of the matter.

The plans for general hospital development in the South-Eastern Health Board area provide for a general hospital in South Tipperary at Cashel or Clonmel.

I believe that, as the matter of the location of the hospital is of such vital importance to the people of the area, it is essential that a decision should be taken only after a comprehensive assessment of all the factors involved. I have discussed the matter with representatives of the South-Eastern Health Board and I will take the views expressed by them and the views of all other parties concerned fully into account before a final decision is reached.
