asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give for each local authority the following information for the years, 1979, 1978 and 1977, (1) the number of planning decisions made on appeal for each local authority by An Bord Pleanála, (2) the percentage of those appealed decisions which upheld in toto the decision of the local authority, (3) the percentage of those decisions which upheld in part the decision of the local authority, (4) the number of appeal decisions which were reversed, and the decision of the local authority; and if he will give for each of the previous four categories the absolute number of appeals affected in each case.

: An Bord Pleanála indicate that information in the specific form requested by the Deputy is not available. Figures giving a breakdown of appeals decided by An Bord Pleanála are not maintained by reference to individual planning authority areas. I can, however, give the Deputy a breakdown of appeal decisions for 1978 and 1979 only, in respect of each county and county borough—the figures for urban districts and boroughs, excluding the four county boroughs and Dún Laoghaire, are aggregated with those for the appropriate counties. For 1977 the overall number of appeals formally determined by the board between 15 March and 31 December was 2,487.
Details of the percentage of appeal decisions which upheld in toto, or in part, or reversed the decisions of local authorities are not available on an area basis but I will supply overall figures for the three years requested. As the information is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.
